Szechuan Sauce
Szechuan sauce was a long discontinued Mcnuggets´ dipping sauce, that was released in 1998 as a promotion to Disney´s film Mulan, it was a limited promotion and the sauce was discontinued and mostly forgotten. But all of this changed in
April 1st, 2017, the first episode of the third season,in this episode Rick goes he goes to a McDonald's within his memory to experience the taste of the Szechuan Sauce for one last time.
This short gag is not brought up again until the end of the episode, when he rants to morty that his true objective is to get more Szechuan sauce and he will get it even if he has to wait for 9 seasons or in 97 years.
This simple gag that in any other series would have been quickly forgotten became a powerful movement in the social media that convinced Mcdonald's for a limited re-release in October 7 of 2017, but unfortunately the amount of sauce was so limited that the infamous Szechuan Sauce Riots took place, in which many frutated fans angry with Mcdonalds started riots in their restaurants, with at least one instance that needed police intervention
This caused Mcdonalds to Rectify and re-release the sauce as a permanent menu item in february 2018. This is clear show of how Rick and Morty Fandom has expanded and how a simple joke in that series had ever lasting consequences in the greatest fast food restaurants chain in the world, and cemented Rick and Morty as one of the most influential animated TV series of all time.
